The concept of the festival |
|
The unique concept of our jazz festival has its roots in an organic understanding of art, life and spirit. This festival is the one and only festival in central Europe that concentrates primarily on true artistic values without making concessions or compromises to material interests. No electric instruments are welcomed. Only open and honest music; music that derives from a true-hearted approach and resonates in the spirit of ritual tradition, this is improvised music… This is what makes the festival attractive to more and more people. Kanjiza is becoming increasingly like an island where musicians, music lovers and artists, looking for a deep artistic experience, can gather. The highest quality performances in all types of musical styles are represented; archaic folk music, spiritual music of the middle ages, classical music and contemporary music, especially jazz and improvisation. Despite the wide range of styles the festival is not a cheap, many-coloured mess of different trends, rather an organic totality of live music and a union of all relevant impulses. With this taken into consideration, year after year we organize musical events in different parts of the town and the countryside, always trying to keep everything in close contact with the uniqueness of the place and the moment. This special form of music making has become very popular thanks to its unique and specific atmosphere. Théatre Jel from Orleans, France (winner of many prizes including: Avignon, Colombo, UNICEF) plays a considerable role in bringing together these musical events , workshops and its performances attract people from near and a far. The musical workshop enables the coming together of musicians from around the world. These programmes are very carefully prepared by organizers. Each session is planned so that musicians of similar spiritual complexion can meet in Kanjiza and reach in 3-4 days a very high level of music together. This rarely happens at other international festivals. In addition to the above, programmes are printed to introduce the participants; give details about exhibitions and other art events that are presented during the course of the festival. And there is one more thing that makes this festival in Kanjiza exceptional when compared to most other musical events: Its homely atmosphere and its intimacy. Under an aura of quietude where spirituality can meet with musicality, experience with individuality in a primordial symbiosis which is so rare nowadays but for which there is such a huge need in our hearts. Leave the noisy and hurrying world and enter the silent, friendly surroundings of heartiness, art and spiritual experience. The real touch, the desired intimacy of man and art, peacefulness of autumn by the river Tisza... Jazz, improvised music… |
